• You prepare a doctoral thesis in the field of International Entrepreneurship. You will work on a project focusing on the motivational drivers explaining whether an entrepreneur aspires and expects internationalization, and whether (s)he is able to actually reach internationalization goals. Besides the impact of personality aspects, the project also attributes attention to firm and environmental characteristics; resulting in integrated ‘fit’ configurations of personality profiles and firm/environmental characteristics leading to actual internationalization behaviour.
• You publish scientific articles related to the research project.
• You contribute to teaching and research in the department of Management at the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Antwerp.

About the post:

We are looking for a candidate who preferably has a master’s degree in business administration or in industrial engineering and management or equivalent. You have a strong interest in the research project described above. The position requires good knowledge of oral and written communication in English. Good knowledge of the Swedish language is a merit. At the same time as the position requires good ability to work closely with the rest of the project group, it also requires a strong own drive to be able to independently plan and manage one’s own work and be responsible for carrying out tasks within given time frames.

Being a PhD student is about developing new knowledge and therefore creativity and ability to handle uncertainty and ambiguity is needed. The industrial nature of the research project with many partner companies requires that you have high social skills and are good at managing different stakeholders’ expectations.
